In the hart of the old centre of Amsterdam, on the historical Keizersgracht between the Leidsegracht and the Leidsestraat, lies a fine example of a fashionable 17th-century residence.
In 1999 Helene Blok and Sjoerd Wildervanck have converted the basement and the ground floor into two comfortable guest rooms. Both rooms look out upon the stately canal and the interesting streetlife and are situated in such a way that the guests can come and go as they please. Only a few minutes' walk takes you to the edge of the inimitable Jordaan, the buzzing Leidseplein or Dam Square with the Red Light District behind. The tram stops within walking distance of half a minute from the B & B.
In fact the B&B is so well located that almost every touristic sight is within 15 minutes walking distance. The facade shows in the top a peculiar and large window frame. It used to be the lightsource for the workshop of the painter Simon Maris. He worked and lived in this house from 1904 till 1927. The house itself has been tastefully redecorated. The blend of modern and antique furnishings, the fine masonry, the old beams and a carefully chosen colour scheme help to create an atmosphere which makes you feel immediately at home.
An excellent breakfast of croissants and rolls fresh from the oven along with freshly squeezed juice is prepared every morning in the large kitchen at the rear.

Guests are invited to sit at the long table in the
adjacent dining-room where they can enjoy the view of the garden.
August 14, 2004 the B&B celebrated its first lustrum. 2004 was a great year anyway, because almost
30% more guests booked at the B&B and in december Helene and Sjoerd received an unexpected honour:

The first prize in the Dutch Best Bed & Breakfast Awards given by The Foundation of Characterful Bed & Breakfast's.
Helene and Sjoerd will continue in the coming years to welcome new guests to help them choose from the many museums, shopping areas, restaurants, theatrical performances and other attractions in Amsterdam and the surroundings.
